The Virtual Life of an Author

Friday I launched my new website. We reached dozens of people and had more than 250 views on the site as a result of posts on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram. We did it all from my kitchen table using a live Facebook video feed.

Hard at work on launching my new website

Live Facebook video feed using the iPhone camera

Too many media channels, too little time

I prefer interacting with friends, fans and readers in person but we’re living in 2017. Our whole culture is increasingly screen-based. A digital presence is a necessity for writers. I sit here writing this on my iPhone at the Cooperage, a restaurant in Lafayette where I’m meeting Meghan and her family for dinner.

The Cooperage, in Lafayette, California, a pretty cool virtual office

Thanks to the miracle of the technology work horse in my palm, I can respond to your posts on several platforms while enjoying a great glass of rose and waiting for my family.

Many thanks to everyone who joined the virtual launch party! Let me know what content you’d like to see on the new website. Hope to see many of you in person. If not, let’s be in touch anyway!
